How to Set Privacy Mask

by Kyle LaPach 05 May 2025

Answer:

Privacy Masking allows you to block out sensitive areas in a camera’s field of view, such as ATM keypads, private desks, or residential windows. The mask adjusts dynamically if a PTZ camera moves or zooms.

Note: This feature and its maximum number of masks may vary by model. Some models support up to 24 privacy masks.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Image > Privacy Mask.
  2. Click the Add icon to create a new privacy mask or the Delete icon to remove one.
  3. Masking Options:
    • Mask a Position: Click the box labeled “Mask” and drag it to the desired location.
    • Mask an Area: Click and drag to draw a custom box over the area you want to block.
  4. Choose the Mask Mode:
    • Regular Mode: Static block shape.
    • Irregular Mode: Dynamic block shape that adjusts with PTZ movement.
  5. Click Save to apply the settings.
